Massage Services
Massage therapy sessions incorporate a blend of modalities and pressure levels, depending on the client's goals, preferences, and needs.
Deep Tissue Massage
Deep tissue massage focuses on breaking down adhesions in muscles and realigning the deeper layers of connective and muscle tissue to relieve pain and tension. The goal is to release chronic patterns in the body through slow strokes and deep finger, palm, or elbow pressure on the tense areas, either following or going across the fiber’s of the muscles, tendons, and fascia. It is particularly helpful for continually tight and contracted areas of the body. Deep tissue work tends to be slower (because it takes patience to reach the depths of a muscle) and can be more intense than Swedish massage.
Swedish Massage
Swedish massage alleviates muscle tension, increases circulation, and promotes the release of feel-good hormones like serotonin and dopamine. It's the "classic" massage that is most represented in the media. The strokes of the technique involve the use of fingers, knuckles, forearms, and palms to create a flowing and rhythmic pressure (which can vary from light to strong depending on preference). Swedish massage is often used to warm-up and prepare the muscle for more intense massage therapy, like deep tissue or trigger point therapy; it's also the cheat code for stress relief and deep relaxation.
Trigger Point Therapy
Trigger point therapy is used to target and alleviate distinct, hyperirritable areas of muscle tension (called trigger points) which can cause pain and discomfort. Often, trigger point pain is referred to other parts of the body. In trigger point therapy, focused and direct pressure is applied to these specific points (usually with a finger or elbow) to release the tension and promote release in the affected muscles. Trigger point therapy aims to reduce pain, increase range of motion, and improve overall muscle health.
Prenatal Massage
Prenatal massage is tailored to the needs and comfort of pregnant individuals. The modality utilizes techniques that are safe and suitable for pregnancy, focusing on addressing the unique physical discomforts experienced during this time. The massage is typically performed while the client is side-lying with multiple pillows for support. Gentle to firm pressure is used to alleviate common pregnancy-related issues such as lower back pain, hip discomfort, swelling, and muscle tension. Prenatal massage is a great way to promote relaxation, improve circulation, release muscle tension, and relieve stress.
